Making pornstars look like pornstars is an art. And when it comes to the art of pornstar makeup, no one is better at it than Melissa Murphy. In an effort to showcase her work, Murphy has started posting before and after pictures of her subjects on her Instagram profile. In addition to showing off her impressive makeup skills, the pictures also offer a rarely seen, honest look at some of the very biggest names in porn in their “raw” forms.
The latest batch of Melissa Murphy’s pornstars without makeup pictures were recently featured over at The Huffington Post. Along with offering a large slideshow gallery, the post also gave the following insight…
Murphy, who has been a makeup artist for eight years and posts photos of her work on Instagram, told HuffPost Weird News that the popularity of her first batch of photos “was kind of crazy.”
At first, she experienced some backlash from subjects who mistakenly accused her of selling the photos. Now that’s she’s cleared that up, “everything has been pretty positive,” she says.
The extra exposure led to more job offers for Murphy, 35. She noted that many women outside of the industry want her to do their makeup for weddings and other events.
In looking at these photos, it becomes clear that most people wouldn’t recognize some of their favorite pornstars without makeup. Some of the transformations are pretty amazing. What this does, I think, is put into pretty sharp relief the difference between “real life” and fantasy that exists not just in porn, but in all forms of media. So for anyone who thought that the ladies who star in porn movies wake up looking like they appear on camera, I think your illusion has just been burst.

And, of course, Melissa Murphy is amazing.
