The acclaimed director wants to crowdfund his Star Wars XXX sequel…
Star Wars XXX stands as one of the most popular and most successful porn parody films of all time. Now, four years after that movie was first released in 2012, director Axel Braun is looking to make the sequel; Empire Strikes Back XXX. And if that news weren’t big enough, Braun has announced that he intends to crowdfund the whole damn thing and then release it for free to the world.
In order to begin production, Axel Braun is looking to raise $500,000 via Indiegogo. While that may seem like a huge dollar amount, consider that this will be used to make a porn film that is filled with Imperial Walkers, Boba Fett, Echo Base, Star Destroyers, the goddamn Millenium Falcon, Cloud City, and all of the other epic awesomeness that made Empire Strikes Back so fucking special.
If successful, Axel Braun Productions will begin working on Empire Strikes Back XXX at the end of April. The plan is to bring back much of the original cast (plus new people) and shoot at locations in Alaska, California, and Nevada. If everything remains on schedule, the completed movie would then be released, completely free to anyone who’s 18+ years old, at some point in September of this year.
Since the Empire Strikes Back XXX Indiegogo page was launched yesterday, 12 people have already contributed a total of $435.
To help further reward those who contribute to the project, and to incentivize those who might want to give some cash, Axel Braun has listed out a whole bunch of perks for various levels of donation, including…
- $20 = Receive a daily “Production Diary” email, which will contain pictures, video, and updates
- $25 = An invitation to the premier party, which will be attended by Braun, the cast, and crew
- $75 (plus shipping) = Signed script
- $100 (plus shipping) = Movie poster signed by the entire cast
- $150 (plus shipping) = Receive a prop of Axel Braun’s choice
- $1,000 = Set visit
- $2,500 = Go on a date with Princess Leia (Allie Haze)
- $50,000 = You become the Executive Producer
If all of this works out and Empire Strikes Back XXX is funded by the public and then released for free, it could spark a whole new business model for the porn industry. Just as it has with mainstream Hollywood and the music industry, piracy has taken a hefty toll on porn. Crowdfunding could serve as a way for porn producers to raise the capital for their projects and get their films in front of fans in a way that won’t leave studios losing money.
