Bonnie Rotten needs no introduction. But I’ll provide one anyway. Since beginning her porn career in 2012, Ms. Rotten has quickly rocketed to near the top of the industry’s most successful and acclaimed talent. Along the way, she’s been gangbanged, fought zombies, and won the 2014 AVN Female Performer of the Year award. Bonnie Rotten is arguably the porn industry’s brightest star.
I recently had the honor of being able to ask Bonnie Rotten a few questions. Here’s how that went…
As the reigning AVN Performer of the Year, I think it’s fair to say you’re one of the industry’s elite talents. With all of the success that you’ve already achieved, how do you continue to step your game up and keep raising the bar for yourself?
First off thank you, I work very hard to maintain a high level of success.. So I really appreciate that. Well, I think it is important to learn something new and add to your resume. Whether, it be doing anal.. doing dps, and sexual acts or starting to direct and produce your own content. I believe being stagnant and content with what you are doing will hurt you, you should broaden your skill set. This is an industry full of learning and opportunities, you just have to work hard and when you get opportunities do you best to excel.
Considering the success that you’ve had, along with that of folks like Tommy Pistol and Joanna Angel, is Alt Porn still “alternative”? Do you think the mainstream porn watching population has embraced that style of porn?
I think the term alt is relative.. I don’t think alt or indie mean what they used to mean as being an underground genre or super different. I think alt has become more of a style..like punk in mainstream.. so I do think that mainstream porn consumers have embraced the style.. the largest companies in the business shoot me and many other heavily tattooed girls and some of us are among the highest rated on the sites and top sales.
Who are some of your favorite pornstars?
Asa Akira, Skin Diamond, Veronica Avluv, Jesse Jane, Gia Dimarco.
Your directing career seems to really be in full swing. You’ve just wrapped Cape Fear XXX (DreamZone Entertainment) and Sisters of Anarchy (Digital Playground). On top of that, your Mental Beauty production company continues to turn out movies for Girlfriends Films. All of that being said, how easy or difficult was it for you to transition to being a performer to a director?
Thank you! I am so excited and honored to have been given the opportunities that I have! I cant wait for those releases to finally come out, they were so much fun to make. It isn’t easy.. I produce my own films for my company so I have to plan everything, design, create, cast, find locations, script, make budgets, arrange meetings, create schedules, make sure the shots are the way i want and the crew knows what the plan is if I am performing in the scene, then post production..sitting through editing, going through photos, delivering drives!… THERE IS SO MUCH MORE THAT GOES INTO IT.
I love performing, I love showing up and getting my makeup done and getting railed, and getting paid… lol. But its an AMAZING feeling to work so hard to create something and to see the final product! (and to receive residual income) It is a very good feeling.. and very hard to learn and get the process down! LOL
Is it more fun directing a porn movie or performing in one?
It’s fun to do both, I love performing and completely focusing on having sex, but it is also nice to watch your ideas in the camera come to life.
Who have been your biggest influences as a director?
There have been few but I would have to say one person who has taught me a lot from the beginning was Brando.
I know that you’re a huge movie fan. What have been your favorite films of 2014 so far?
MALEFICENT!!!
Will the Raiders ever win another Superbowl and, if so, when?
6-8 years. Mark it down!
Everyone’s always interested in who the “best new pornstars” are. Considering your status as one of the biggest pornstars in the industry as well as a director and production company owner, you seem uniquely qualified to answer that. Are there any relatively new performers out there who’ve caught your eye?
There are a couple girls who are really great performers who are nice, professional and love their jobs. Alina Li, Carter Cruise, Zoey Foxx, Zoey Nixon, Ashlynn Malloy. I don’t get to work with too many younger girls but these girls have a fire, something special.
What should we expect from Bonnie Rotten for the rest of 2014?
Lots of directing and producing! My signature toy line “Be Rotten” will be coming out in July Exclusively through Pipedream. So check that out. Oh and also, I have lots of appearance gigs around the world! So find my schedule.
