10. Satin Summer

Kicking things off here is Satin Summer. One of the finest Black starlets of the 1980s, Satin performed in about thirty hardcore films throughout the decade. Some of her more classic performances came in such flicks as Indiana Joan In the Black Hole of Mammoo (VCA), Pretty In Black (Wet Video) and Romancing the Bone (VCA).

9. Lady Stephanie

Lady Stephanie was active in the porn biz for most of the Eighties, with showings in nearly forty hardcore movies between 1984 until 1989. After she left the industry, Lady Stephanie seemingly disappeared. There’s a few reports floating around that state she passed away in the early Nineties but nothing (that I’ve found) official. Some of her best work was in films such as Foxy Brown (VCA), Hill Street Blacks (Dreamland Entertainment) and Hot Cars Nasty Women (Western Visuals).

8. Heather Hunter

Had Heather Hunter started her career earlier in the decade, it’s likely she would have appeared higher on this list. Instead, Heather got her start at the tail end of the Eighties and only performed in a handful of films before really hitting her stride in the Nineties where she became Vivid’s first Black contract performer. Still, she did have impressive showings in such 1980’s smut flicks as Coming On America, Heather and Heather’s Home Movies (all of them Vidway movies).

7. Mauvais DeNoir

Mauvais DeNoir might very well be the most under appreciated starlet on this list. I say that because despite performing in about a hundred hardcore joints throughout most of the 1980s…very few people seem to be familiar with her work. That a shame because this lady could bang with the best of them. For proof, just check her out in Afro Erotica (Wet Video), Black Taboo 2 (Essex Video) or Lust Detector (Expert Video).

6. Desiree West

Desiree West is an American treasure. A pioneer of the industry, Ms. West started doing smut in 1974 and continued on throughout much of the Eighties before calling it a career in 1986. Some of her 80’s highlights include performances in Rockin’ With Seka (Caballero Home Video), Black Lust (VCR) and Torch of Desire (Regal Home Video).

5. Sahara

A native of Paris, France, Sahara was a staple of 1980s porn. She performed in well over a hundred hardcore films all through the Decade of Excess and did a damn fine job of it, too. Her career spanned from 1983 to 1988 and she had roles in many of the best pieces of smut of that era. 4. Purple Passion

If you were alive in the 1980s and watching porn back then, it would have been hard to not come across Purple Passion in action. That’s because from 1985 and through the remainder of the decade (and into the 1990s), Purple stayed busy getting the Holy Snot fucked out of her in front of cameras. All together, she performed in nearly 150 dirty movies. Some of her best stuff was in flicks such as Cheek To Cheek (Leisure Time Entertainment), Dark Side of the Moon (Vidco Entertainment) and Spanish Fly (Tamarack).

3. Ebony Ayes

There were very few starlets any better than Ebony Ayes in the Eighties. This lady was a certified badass, as evidenced by her killer performances in XXX-rated videos such as Ebony Humpers (Leisure Time Entertainment), Big Tit Orgy 2 (Big Top Video) and Lust of Blackula (Arrow Productions). Ms. Ayes performed in damn-near 200 hardcore joints from 1985 to the mid-Nineties.

2. Angel Kelly

Angel Kelly was an absolute force of nature in the porn biz and one of the best things to happen to the Eighties. With well over 200 hardcore films to her credit, and a few major industry award nominations along the way, there weren’t too many starlets that could keep up with her in terms of raw talent. Please do not die before you see her in works such as Addicted To Love (Vivid Entertainment), Out Of Control (Essex Video) or Load Warrior 2 (Vidco Entertainment).

1. Jeannie Pepper

You can debate positions 10 thru 2 on this list but Jeannie Pepper owns the top spot and that’s just facts. A native of Chicago, Jeannie got her start in 1983 and immediately established herself as an incredible talent with nearly unmatched sexual charisma. She banged her way all through the Eighties, into the Nineties and went straight into the AVN Hall of Fame in 1997. Highlights of her incredible career include Hot Gipsy Love (Night Owl Productions), Hot Chocolate 2 (Essex Video) and Black Holes In Space (4-Play Video).

About this list…

Why make a Top 10 list focusing on Black female pornstars of the Eighties? Because it needed to be made. While all of the women featured here contributed in big ways to the Porn Industry during that decade and were as talented as anyone, the truth is that the industry never gave these ladies the credit (or superstar treatment) they deserved. And that’s bullshit.

My hope is that by making this list, it’ll shine some light on ten truly great pornstars that might otherwise remain overlooked or forgotten.
