Hyon Song-wol was a popular North Korean musician and ex-girlfriend of Kim Jong-un…
North Korea executed singer Hyon Song-wol as punishment for allegedly making and selling homemade porn videos. Hyon Song-wol, a popular North Korean singer, is the ex-girlfriend of North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un. She and eleven other well known North Korean entertainers were put to death by firing squad three days after being arrested for violating the country’s anti-porn laws. It was reported that their families were forced to watch, before being sent to prison camps for “guilt by association”.
To quote from an article appearing over at the Mirror…
The ex-lover of North Korean despot Kim Jong-un was executed by machine guns in front of relatives for allegedly making a sex tape.
According to reports, family had to watch on as singer Hyon Song-wol was put in front of a firing squad in public three days after her arrest.
She is believed to have been one of 12 well-known performers killed for violating North Korea’slaw against pornography.
South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo reported how the victims were accused of filming themselves having sex and selling the material.
Who was Hyon Song-wol?
Hyon Song-wol rocketed to fame within North Korea in the early 2000′s. She was the lead vocalist for the Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble, a pop group that released several hit songs in North Korea. In 2006, Song-wol faded from public view after she married a North Korean military officer. However, it has been reported that prior to her marriage, Kim Jong-un and Hyon Song-wol had a romantic relationship. It’s also been reported that Kim Jong-un’s father disapproved of the relationship and forced his son to end it, resulting in Hyon Song-wol marrying the military officer.
But the plot thickens. In 2011, after his bat-shit crazy father died, it was whispered that Kim Jong-un and Hyon Song-wol resumed their relationship, despite both being married to other people. Obviously, in a country as tightly controlled as North Korea, it was never possible to confirm these rumors, which were among the juiciest gossip in all of North Korea. Hyon’s last known performance took place in March 2012, where she performed at a concert celebrating International Women’s Day.
Executed for allegedly making porn…
According to reports, Hyon Song-wol and eleven other performers were arrested by North Korean police on August 17th. Three days later, all were marched in front of a machine gun firing-squad and shot to death. All were accused of violating the country’s strict anti-porn laws. Under these laws, all forms of anything that can in any way be described as pornographic is illegal. Just watching a porn movie in North Korea can be grounds for severe punishment, up to and including death.
Hyon Song-wol was accused of filming herself having sex and then selling copies on the North Korean black market. Did she really do any such thing? That’s still a mystery. However, the allegations have raised an interesting question; Did Kim Jong-un have his ex-girlfriend put to death to cover up a sex tape that he may have made with her? Or was death by firing squad Kim Jong-un’s way of ending an affair that was starting to become embarrassing?
R.I.P. Hyon Song-wol…
Regardless of why Hyon Song-wol was marched in front of that firing squad, she didn’t deserve to die. Hyon was a talented, beautiful woman and a mother. If anyone in the world deserves to be executed by machine gun, that person would be Kim Jong-un, the piece of shit who currently passes for the North Korean “Supreme Leader”.
