Did Bonnie Rotten Retire From Porn?

Last month, Bonnie Rotten seemed to make it official that she was no longer performing in porn movies.  This wasn’t exactly shocking news, as it had been several months since she had shot any new scenes and people were kind of assuming that she had decided to call it quits.  However, after a series of tweets back on July 7th, she removed any doubt that she was done with performing XXX.

I had thought this was common knowledge, as any of her 255,000+ Twitter followers will tell you that she’s been pretty open about the fact that she’s not performing anymore and is now focused on other major life events, like having a baby and getting married.  However, I’ve seen a few people asking about why we haven’t been seeing much of her recently, so maybe word hasn’t traveled as far or as fast as I thought.

So if you didn’t already know…you know now.  And knowing is half the battle.

Why did Bonnie Rotten retire from porn?

The short answer to that question is that Bonnie Rotten seems to have achieved all that she wanted as a performer and now that she’s pregnant with her first child, she’s moving on to focus on other life goals.  She spelled all of that out in a series of tweets on July 7th, while also firing back at people who were criticizing her lifestyle.

I’ll include the transcript from her original tweets below, but before getting to that, it’s important to keep in mind that (as of right now), Bonnie Rotten has only stopped performing hardcore porn.  She is still directing adult films for Elegant Angel.  Whether or not she’ll continue to direct for the long term, or just fulfill any contractual obligations she has with the studio, I dunno.

Anyway, in her own words, this is why Bonnie Rotten has decided to stop doing XXX sex-type stuff…

Lol, people talking shit cus I did porn and I’m having a baby. I did what I needed to create a life for myself and my family. I had a respectful high level career where I succeeded everything I ever wanted to and achieved all I needed while being healthy and safe.

I  have no shame in what I did. Will it be hard to explain when my kid is grown yes. It will. But I am prepared for that. My child will live a fantastic life with me and its father and family around it. It won’t interfere with my child’s life it will be so far in the past, it won’t matter.

The dumb insults are shallow and narrow minded and stupid. If that’s all you can say think of something else.

As you can see, while she doesn’t ever use the word “retire”, she does repeatedly speak of her porn career in the past tense.  The statement above seems (at least to me) to make it crystal clear that she considers her pornstar career a closed chapter in her life and something that she’s moving on from.

Does this mean there won’t be any new Bonnie Rotten porn movies?

As of this writing, Bonnie Rotten hasn’t performed porn in about 9 months.  That being said, we may continue to see “new” porn movies come out that feature Bonnie Rotten hardcore scenes that were shot a while ago.  Additionally, studios are always releasing compilation films, which use previously released scenes from a bunch of different films.

The bottom line is that unless Bonnie Rotten starts performing again, it’s likely we’ve seen all of the hardcore porn that she’s done.

Will Bonnie Rotten return to porn at some point?

I suppose it’s a possibility, sure.

However, based what she’s saying publicly, it doesn’t seem like it’s something that she’s considering at the moment.  Bonnie Rotten has a whole lot more in her life than porn and it doesn’t seem to rank as one of her top priorities.  People make career changes every day, and pornstars are no different.

I’ve been covering Bonnie Rotten since she began her porn career and I’m well aware of all that she’s accomplished in a relatively short period of time.  Hell, you may remember that Die-Screaming ranked her as the #1 best female pornstar of 2014.  She’s accomplished more than most ever have or ever will in this industry and if she wants to walk away and never look back, good for her.
