The Blackberry ranks among the most powerful smart phones ever produced. That being said, it can be a chore sifting through the hundreds of thousands of apps available for the Blackberry, trying to figure out which are worth the memory they take up. Well, let me provide you with a little help and guidance. Here is a list of Blackberry apps that, in my opinion, every Blackberry owner should have.
And, no, this won’t be one of those god awful lists that include such gems as Facebook for Blackberry and Blackberry Messenger. Everyone knows Facebook, Twitter, and FourSquare have apps. Blackberry Messenger comes with the damn phone. STOP TELLING ME ABOUT THINGS I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT, STUPID TECH-WRITERS!!!!
Blackberry Protect
This may be one of the most important apps available. Blackberry Protect is a free app from Research in Motion that can regularly backup your Blackberry to a secure, remote computer. It can also help you locate your Blackberry, using GPS technology, if you’ve lost it. This is one of those apps that everyone should be using. And if you’re not…you, sir or ma’am, are a dumbass.
Poynt
Poynt is one of those applications that kind of does it all. Wherever you are, Poynt can help you find what you’re looking for (people, businesses, restaurants, a doctor to ask about that disturbing rash, etc.). But Poynt does more than that. It integrates with Blackberry Maps to give you directions to any of those places from wherever you are, it can add the contact info to your Blackberry contacts, you can do reverse call look ups so you can see who that sum-a-na-bitch was that just called you. It will also display the current weather data, add events to your Blackberry calender, and send you (via Blackberry Messenger) movie ticket receipts. If you have a personal assistant…fire her right now. This thing is better.
Navita Translator
If you’re like me, and I hope you’re not because otherwise you’d be a damn, dirty clone, you recieve the occasional piece of adoring fan-email or tweet. The only problem? It’s written in Dutch and your dumb ass can’t read or speak Dutch! Do not panic. The Navita Translator can decipher that heathen script into American for you. You can take text from any email, text, browser, or type it directly into the app, and it will tell you what it says. Better yet…it will SPEAK IT for you. So you can also then travel to Dutchland (where they speak Dutch) and type American into the app and IT WILL SPEAK DUTCH AT THE DUTCHLANDISH PEOPLE FOR YOU!!!!
MemoryUp Personal
Slow Blackberrys make me sad. They also make me, sometimes, slip into a hate-induced blackout rage, resulting in me waking up next to the charred remains of my neighbor’s house. To prevent this, I use (and so should you) MemoryUp Personal. This app keeps your Blackberry’s RAM running free and clean, helping to ensure that your phone remains spunky and quick. In addition to doing all that, MemoryUp Personal also can display charts and graphs showing your memory usage. Show these off at the bar to impress the ladies (pro tip: ladies love men with a fast Blackberry).
And, yup, that’s all I got for you now. Yes, just four apps. There are all sorts of really useful apps out there, but in my opinion, these are four that pretty much everyone should have on their Blackberry right now. You’re welcome, Internet. You’re welcome.
