Thanos is now rumored to be a main villain in The Avengers movie

For several weeks, rumors swirling around about Marvel’s upcoming Avengers movie have seemed to increasingly assume that Loki and The Skrulls would be the two main villains in the film. Now, however, there is a report that Thanos will be included as a bad guy in The Avengers. If true, this would instantly set the stage for one of the most epic movie showdowns of all time. The Avengers vs. Loki (who’s already been confirmed in the movie) and Thanos.
Obviously, this is huge news. Thanos, one of Marvel’s most powerful villains has power enough to be a match for all of the Avengers by himself. And if he’s in cahoots with Loki? Wow. With the build up to the Avengers movie years in the making, everyone knew that film would have to really deliver something amazing, just to live up to the hype. Having the opportunity to see Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk go toe-to-toe with both Loki and Thanos would certainly help accomplish that.

And while this report (being reported by The Latino Review) hasn’t yet been confirmed, it does actually make sense. Last year, at the San Diego Comic Con, Marvel had a full scale model of the Infinity Guantlet on display. The reason? They said at the time that it would appear in the Thor movie, as a trophy in The Asgardian Vault. Almost no one saw the thing, however, and people just assumed Marvel had changed its mind or was just fucking with fans. Well, guess what? It actually DID appear in the Thor film, for about a second (see picture below). And since The Infinity Guantlet has long been the super-weapon wielded by Thanos…the connection is there for him to appear in The Avengers.

I really don’t want to jump the gun on this, the whole thing could prove to be absolutely untrue, but I’d be lying if I said this news didn’t excite me. Thanos has long been one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe and seeing him appear as a lead villain in the most anticipated comic book movie of all time would be absolutely amazing. You can’t tell me that watching The Avengers throw down on the big screen against Thanos wouldn’t be one of the greatest scenes in comic movie history. But, like I said, it might just end up being a rumor. Time will tell on this, but now that I’ve heard the rumor, I really do hope Thanos is a villain in The Avengers. Please?
