BEYOND: TWO SOULS, the latest from Quantic Dream

Last week at E3, the developers of Heavy Rain announced their next game, Beyond: Two Souls for the PS3. The game is the spiritual successor to Heavy Rain and follows the story of Jodie (played by Ellen Page from Juno), a girl linked to poltergeist-ish entity called Aiden.

In some game play videos floating around the web, the game appears to play like its predecessor, but with more player interaction. For example, the player gets to move and control Jodie during action sequences, but control still involves hitting floating button prompts. Also, the player can take control of Aiden to toss inanimate objects and mess with people.

In typical Quantic Dream fashion, the visuals in the trailers are absolutely stunning. The lighting during the forest chase scene looks like it’s straight out of a Hollywood slasher and facial animations are probably the most realistic yet.

The game’s release window is January to March 2013. You can check out the extended trailer at beyondps3.com/ .

Crazy lighting, exploding helicopters, poltergeists. Yes.
