New details have been leaked about The Avengers movie
While it’s still a year away from being released, new details regarding Marvel Studios upcoming Avengers movie have begun to leak out onto the Internet. With Thor dominating the box office and Captain America just a few weeks away, anticipation for the Avengers has never been higher for details about the film comic fans have been waiting their entire lives for. The information, attributed to an anonymous source who is working on the film’s New Mexico set, answer some of the most persistent questions that fans have had regarding The Avengers movie.
Yesterday, The Daily Blam posted an article that claims to have new information regarding The Avengers movie. According to Pietro Filipponi, the post’s author, these new details were provided by “a source working on it’s [The Avengers] New Mexico set.” If true, we now have a much better understanding of the plot for the movie. Here’s what’s being reported…
- SHIELD will play a leading role in The Avengers movie. While they’ve just so far appeared in other Marvel Films as trench-coat clad Federal spooks, in The Avengers, expect to see the agents wearing the blue and black jumpsuits that any comic fan would be familiar with. They’ll also be armed with all sorts of uber-high-tech weaponry, supposedly based off of information gathered from “cosmic artifacts.”
- Yes, comic fans, we will finally get to see the SHIELD Helicarrier in all it’s cinematic glory.
- Many of the more famous SHIELD agents will be appearing in the movie (Alexander Goodwin Pierce, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wendell Vaughn, Jimmy Woo, etc.), but the biggest news is that we will get to see Agent Maria Hill, played by Cobie Smulders.
- So far, Loki remains the only villain that has been cast in The Avengers. At least, anyway, the only one that we know about. (There are also rumors swirling around that The Skrulls will also be featured in the movie.)
- Agent Phil Coulson, who has appeared in the Iron Man and Thor movies, will play a big part in The Avengers, leading a team of SHIELD agents into battle during one of the biggest scenes of the film.

While none of this information is “official,” it does make sense that as filming and production of The Avengers begins, new information about the film will begin to leak out. It’s just not possible to keep everything secret when you have a small army of actors, camera men, makeup artists, and other production staff involved with a project of this size. Additionally, Marvel Studios may actually be behind the leaks, perhaps wanting to build buzz and anticipation for the film while Thor and Captain America have the world’s attention in theaters. At any rate, it certainly gives comic fans a bit more meat to chew on while we count down the months and days until we finally get to see The Avengers on the big screen.
