Music News no longer featured on Die-Screaming…sorry
Die-Screaming used to have a Music News section. But now it doesn’t. If you are seeing this page, chances are you clicked on some sort of link that used to point to a blog post that was part of our music coverage. Unfortunately, all of those posts (including the one you may have been looking for) have been permanently deleted. And they ain’t coming back. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Why did Die-Screaming remove it’s Music News category?
The truth is that Music News was just never a really great fit for Die-Screaming. When I first launched the site back in 2009, Die-Screaming was a big mashup of all the things I loved writing about, music being one of them. But then as the site grew and became more focused, it became clear (at least to me) that some of the topics I was posting about would have to go. And after much consideration, I decided that Music News was going to be one of those sections that I removed.
And I genuinely wish that I didn’t have to delete that section. I love music. I have absolutely zero musical or singing talent, but I spend hours every day listening to all sorts of music genres. And, as I mentioned, I also really enjoyed writing about Music News. But websites that try to be about everything tend to become messy, unfocused, and scattered. And as I sat down and prioritized what exactly I wanted to write the most about the most often…Music News didn’t make the Top 5.
Instead, I decided to focus my efforts – and Die-Screaming’s editorial focus – on the worlds of
Comic Books, Movies, Porn, and Geek Culture. (Update: Die-Screaming now is 100% dedicated to blogging about porn) And because I didn’t want to just have a whole section of the website just sitting there and never being updated, I made the decision to delete all of the Music News posts that were hosted on Die-Screaming. I think it was the right decision.
What are your thoughts?
I’m always very interested in hearing about what the people who visit this site think about Die-Screaming. While I personally believe that removing the Die-Screaming Music News section was a good move, I’d be interested in hearing what you all think. Anyone miss it? Was it a mistake to permanently delete the entire section?
