Avengers Alliance is coming soon
Very soon, Marvel Comics will be releasing its very first game for Facebook; Avengers Alliance. The game, which is free to play and open to everyone (although there will probably be premium features and upgrades that cost money), is schedule to be released sometime in the first quarter of this year, just ahead of the big Avengers movie in May. Avengers Alliance allows the player to take on the role of a SHIELD Agent and build a team of Marvel Heroes to go into combat against some of the biggest and baddest super-villains that the Marvel Universe has to offer. It’s about time.
Companies like Zynga have been making a killing by building game for Facebook and the platform offers a huge potential market for a media company like Marvel Comics. Which makes the fact that not only is Avengers Alliance Marvel’s first venture into the world of Facebook gaming, it also represents the very first Disney Facebook game, as well. And while Marvel, and its parent company Disney, may have been late to the party, you can bet that we will be seeing an increasing number of Facebook games from the company. Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, hell, maybe even Squirrel Girl all could be starring in their very own games sometime in the near future. And if Marvel is getting into the Facebook gaming thing, you know it won’t be too long before the likes of DC and maybe Image also jump into the ring.
Anyway, back to Avenger’s Alliance. Here’s the first official trailer for the game…
Marvel hasn’t announced an official release date for Avengers Alliance, other than that it is scheduled for sometime in the first quarter of this year.
