First Look at Live Action Green Arrow

The CW is working on a live action Green Arrow show, titled simply enough, “Arrow“. The show stars Steven Amell (The Vampire Diaries, Hung) in the role of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. Arrow will be directed by someone who has quite a bit of experience in directing television versions of DC Comics characters, David Nutter. For those that aren’t familiar with that name, David Nutter was the longtime director of the hit Smallville television series, and has worked on such fan-favorites as Supernatural and Roswell. Today, the first image of Steven Amell dressed as Green Arrow was released.
The Green Arrow costume was designed by Colleen Atwood, the Oscar Award winning costume artist who was most recently awarded for her work on Alice in Wonderland. In a statement released along with the above image, here’s what director David Nutter had to say about the new Arrow WB show…
When I directed the pilot for Smallville, I knew that making Clark Kent relatable would be the key to audiences believing in him as a hero. ‘Arrow’ is a different show – darker and harder-edged – but it’s the same core idea. We’re creating a real, believable world in which Oliver Queen can do incredible things. Colleen Atwood’s great work on the Arrow costume reflects that effort.
No release date has yet been announced for Arrow. As the show is still in pilot mode, it’s possible that the WB won’t even pick it up for a full season, however, based on the star power associated with it, that is unlikely. A decision from the WB about what it’s plans and schedules are for Arrow is expected by late Spring. As more details are released, I’ll be sure to pass them along.
