Rumor: Kayden Kross wants out of Digital Playground
Kayden Kross wants to end her relationship with Digital Playground. Or, rather, that’s the rumor currently spinning around the porn industry. While neither Kross nor Digital Playground have said anything in terms of the current status of their business relationship, word on the street is that Kayden Kross no longer wants to be a Digital Playground contract girl. Is there any truth to these reports, or is it just a bunch of mindless gossip?
The rumor regarding Kayden Kross wanting to leave Digital Playground first appeared over at MikeSouth.com. Mike South, the veteran adult industry blogger, posted this to his site a few days ago…
I am hearing that Kayden Kross told Digital Playground/Manwin to “fuck off” last week. Not sure where that left things but I do know that she is refusing to shoot for them, even girl/girl scenes which she moved into back in March because she didn’t like the way they were shooting boy/girl scenes.
I do know she is still shooting carte blanche for her website and has been doing that but its up in the air whether Digital Playground/Manwin is releasing her from her contract willingly or not.
Right now Kayden is unable to officially make a statement but I expect one as soon as she can.
As I mentioned above, and it’s worth repeating, none of this has been confirmed by either Digital Playground or Kayden Kross. As Kross is still under contract with Digital Playground, even if there was truth to this rumor, neither party would be able to discuss it. At least not until a whole bunch of legal stuff was cleared up. It’s not likely Kayden Kross would want to say anything that might land her in breach of contract territory. And Digital Playground obviously won’t be responding to unconfirmed rumors or voluntarily drawing attention to a potential PR shitstorm.
Regardless of how true or not this Kayden Kross/Digital Playground breakup rumor turns out to be, it does do a good job of highlighting the darker side of exclusive porn contracts. While performers who enter into such contracts generally get the peace of mind of steady work, decent pay, and usually health benefits, contracts can turn messy. When everyone involved stops being friends, the business side of things can become toxic and painful.
Aside from the stuff she does for her own website, Kayden Kross has been with Digital Playground for her entire career. She’s long been a staple in the studio’s lineup, frequently working alongside Jesse Jane, Stoya, and Riley Steele. That being said, a few other big name stars have recently exited their exclusive contracts and are doing quite well as “free agents”. Alektra Blue ended her contract with Wicked not too long ago and Allie Haze also exited her contract with Vivid.
If Kayden Kross and Digital Playrgound really are calling it quits, I suspect that we’ll hear about it sooner rather than later. When the news is announced, I doubt there will be any details attached, with the decision likely being described as “mutual” and “amicable”. Probably.
As any new details become available, I’ll be sure to pass them along.
