Hunger Games Katniss Barbie

Right off that bat, some of you must be thinking, “This is a joke.” I assure you, it is not. The Hunger Games Katniss Barbie doll is very much a real thing. Based off of one of the main characters in the The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen, Mattel is marketing this Barbie doll at “adult collectors”, which makes sense, considering the plot behind Hunger Games (children killing children in a twisted reality survival show). Even though Hunger Games Katniss Barbie just went on sale yesterday (4/09/12), she’s already a back ordered item. That being said, orders are still being accepted and, for the price of $29.95, you too can own your very own Katniss Everdeen Barbie doll.
To quote from BarbieCollector.com, the site which is collecting orders for the Hunger Games Katniss Barbie….
“Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
Hunger Games Katniss doll wears a hooded jacket, top, and military-style pants inspired by the costume Katniss wore in the film. Included are bow, arrows, and quiver. Completing her look is the iconic mockingjay pin.”

So what are your thoughts on this Hunger Games Katniss Barbie? Something worth purchasing or is a Katniss Everdeen/Barbie mashup too weird? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
