In February, Deadpool will die.
As we’ve been reporting, Deadpool appears to be the next major Marvel Comics character to take a turn at being killed off. Today, Marvel released a bit more detail around the event, seeming to confirm it that one of its most popular characters is heading towards his impending doom. Don’t get too choked up, though. Comic characters, especially ones as popular and as lucrative as Deadpool, don’t stay dead forever. No, I think the biggest draw to this storyline will be seeing how exactly Deadpool is killed off and then, probably a few months down the road, seeing how exactly he makes his return to the Marvel Universe. It’ll also be interesting seeing how his X-Force teammates like Wolverine and Psylocke react to his death.
Here’s the official Marvel description of Deadpool #50…
“Could this be it? Has everyone’s favorite Merc With A Mouth finally made an appointment with Death? This February, witness the biggest change in Deadpool’s life as “DEAD” kicks off in DEADPOOL #50! From the creative team of Daniel Way & Carlo Barberi, Deadpool’s lease on life is about to expire and those around him are going to feel the consequences including X-Force! Following the epic battle with his former body parts gone rogue, Wade Wilson makes a monumental decision that will forever change who he is. See how it all goes down this February, in DEADPOOL #50!”
So Deadpool is going to be killed off in the beginning of 2012. Now that it’s official, what are your thoughts on the matter? Let us know in the comments below.
