Earlier in the week, Marvel released a ten second preview of its Superbowl commercial for The Avengers movie. And while this new Avengers commercial will no doubt get a whole lot of attention on Sunday, it’s not the only Avengers-themed event Marvel has planned for the big game. Set to coincide with the Superbowl ad, Marvel will also be releasing the first issue of Avengers Prelude on the Marvel App. Free to everyone, this first issue (titled Fury’s Big Week) kicks off the new eight issue series, which helps fill in the events leading up to the events that will be featured in The Avengers.
Using the same marketing tactic that drug dealers made famous, the first issue is free. Then, once you’re hooked, you’ll have to cough up .99 for each of the other seven issues, which will be released weekly on Tuesdays. The Avengers Prelude story is scripted by Chris Yost and Eric Pearson, while Luke Ross handles the art chores.
